Project Type : Competition
This building is intended to serve as a conjunctive body for a group of outlying villages in Himatnagar. With a minimum of opaque surfaces, it sits within the precinct's colorful and playful elements. The establishment generates an ideological environment for the people and nature to flow and cherish through it. The building comprises of two segments, one of which includes the health care center for the people of the surrounding community and the other and the larger motive stands for community and its wellbeing in terms of Education and development. Sabarkantha being a 70% rural area, healthcare and education are the rare commodities for the people of these outlying villages. The idea proposes a precinct that facilitates the acquisition of commodities and interaction between these people.
The architecture is presented/proposed as a demonstration of an idea which can be implemented as an experiment. By design, the structure is modular, reducing construction time, effort, and cost. It is an assembly structure with nut and bolt joints, adding the possibility of growing and customizing the walls and clads. Vertical and horizontal skeletons support wall frames that can be clad with local / aspired materials by locals. As a result, the building feels like it belongs to the community and that it is owned by them.
